ECSAGE Project:
Empower Change: Creating Safe Spaces and Advancing Gender Equality project responds to the pervasive issue of gender-based violence (GBV) in Bangladesh, which is deeply embedded in cultural norms, societal attitudes, and structural inequalities. It seeks to address key challenges such as harmful traditional beliefs that reinforce rigid gender roles and perpetuate inequality, a lack of awareness and education about gender rights and GBV, and the limited availability of support services like counselling. Additionally, the project tackles social stigma and victim-blaming that discourage survivors from seeking help, as well as broader issues of gender inequality that result in economic dependence, limited decision-making power, and restricted mobility for women and girls.
